Allied/ Citizens transfer & storage Complaints – Incompetent & bad business practices
Description
I choose Allied/Citizens transfer and storage over 2 other companies to move my house hold belongings from Tucson, AZ to Klamath Falls, OR. I got estimates about 2 months before my intended move date because I was moving to Oregon early to start work and look for a place to rent to bring my family. The original estimate was for approximately $3800, when I called to sign and finalize the agreement for the move the salesman (Gus Rivera) told me that the prices had gone up. Approximately $4000 now. The agreement was for them to pack, load and deliver our house hold belongings. They packed our house on Friday September 2 using more boxes than was estimated. That caused the price to go up $200. When they pack they wrap everything in several sheets of paper; softball glove, cloth items, and non breakable items. This extra bulk was unneccessary and therefor they use more boxes. I inquired if the packers are paid a comission based on the number of boxes. They said that they used to get paid per box but now only get paid by the hour. I think they must get some kind of bonus or something for using more boxes. The truck was loaded on Saturday September 3, 2011 and because of the holiday (Labor Day) was taken to storage to await a driver. There was no agreement or need to store our stuff as we had a place for our stuff to be delivered. The agreement said our stuff would arrive in 6-9 days even with the holiday and them storing our stuff over the weekend. They also said we would be able to log on and see the whereabouts of our stuff. I logged in to check on our stuff and information given is brief and does not give the whereabouts it only says in route. Well on the 9th day I have not heard anything and am inquiring about where and when our stuff will arrive. On this 9th day is when I find out our stuff is still in storage in Tucson, AZ. and no driver has been assigned to deliver. No I am wondering as to the condition of all our stuff. Will it arrive and in what condition?
Needless to say we are 9 days and counting with out our house hold belongings and very upset with Allied/ Citizens transfer and the salesman Gus Rivera. I don’t know exactly who to point the blame. Did Gus Rivera fail to complete the arrangements of the move, did Allied/ Citizens transfer completely drop the ball. Their practice of giving a low estimate and then once the agreement is signed the price only goes up. This is bad business and I blame Gus Rivera as he came to the house and had a visual of everything being packed. All I can say is that I will never do business with Allied/ Citizens transfer every again and do not recommend anybody every do business with Allied/ Citizens transfer. If I could I would pay the difference to anybody needing to move to choose any other company besides Allied/ Citizens transfer. Moving a family and home is stressfull enough but to have a company such as Allied/ Citizens transfer who promises to take the stress out of your move actually create more stress. Allied/ Citizens transfer is INCOMPETENT and I DO NOT recommend anybody do business with them!
